Twenty Eight is proud to present... Emma Sutherland, a landscape painter turned collage artist!

Starting out as a landscape painter, I occasionally flirted with collaging as a fun outlet for creativeenergy. This led me to become obsessed, or rather possessed, spending countless hours in the studiocutting out images. I began to realise that the whole process of collaging suited my personalityperfectly, from scouring the 2nd hand book shops, to the methodic cutting of the paper, to interactingwith the work in a 'play time' manner before adding the glue. Using my background in painting, thecombination of mediums I work in is still continuing to grow and now incorporates collage with acrylic aswell as encaustic wax.

Inspirational Quote: Errrrrmmm......“Always keep the rhythm in your feet and a little partyin your shoulders.”

My collage work is tongue in cheek with a heavy influence of childhoodplay time memories, science fiction and musicals. Using vintagemagazines I interact with my "characters" in a play setting creatingimaginary worlds that I hope the viewer will join me in and share anintimate moment of complete escapism.

Emma is exhibiting at Twenty Eight until 17th July 2015. To see more of Emma's work, visit: www.facebook.com/emmasutherlandart Twitter: @artylittlething Instagram.com/emmasutherlandart
