Twenty Eight is proud to present.... Marrianne's Pottery, a ceramics range by Marianne Finlayson.

I have been living in Stow since 1994, where Iwork in the old howff, which I have gradually been converting into a studio.
I now produce a distinctive style of stoneware pottery that takes its theme from the Scottish Borders countryside, with an appliqué technique applied to traditional forms. My sheep range has become a favourite with tourists and collectors alike, as is my snowdrop range.

My work consist mainly of table and kitchenware. Most of the pieces I make are hand-thrown, while a few are made from slabs. When the pots are dry they are first fired to 1000°C, then I apply underglaze colours and a transparent glaze and fire again to 1228°C, which makes the pottery very strong and dishwasher-safe.

Marianne's Snowdrop range is available at Twenty Eight until Friday 27th March 2015.
